Dr Harish Gupta provides a number of services, including hip replacement; knee replacement; arthroscopic surgery for knees; shoulders and ankles; hand and foot surgery.
Dr Gupta diagnoses, manages and treats a range of conditions. These include osteoarthritis; rheumatoid arthritis; impingement; carpal tunnel syndrome and bunions. He also treats injuries like fractures, torn ligaments; dislocations; labral tears and sports injuries.
Before undergoing hip replacement surgery, Dr Gupta will perform a physical examination. He will also ensure that x-rays are done. These imaging tests will help to confirm the diagnosis and make sure that surgery is the best treatment option for your needs
Dr Gupta may recommend knee replacement surgery if you are suffering from severe knee pain caused by osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis or an injury, such as a fracture, torn ligament(s) or other conditions that may cause considerable pain.
Dr Harish Gupta completed his degree in orthopaedics at the University of Witwatersrand. He subsequently completed his fellowship before working as a consultant at the same establishment and its group of hospitals. He was invited and took up the offer to do a travelling fellowship with the South African Orthopaedic Association, a professional organisation committed to the advancement of the science and art of orthopaedic surgery. Dr Gupta currently works in private practice in Rondebosch, Cape Town.
